Can some one help me? My set of Goodyear tires has about 4000 miles on them. Today I discovered one has a small nail in the tire. The nail is down between the tread. Can this tire be fixed or do I have to buy a new tire?
went thru this same problem about a month ago. yes it can be repaired. i would say the best bet is to find a goodyear shop that is certified to fix run flats, as all gy shops aren't, and can handle the wide vette tire. it might be hard to find this shop depending on where you live. going to the gy shop keeps the warranty. if you can't find a gy shop take it to someone you can trust that can handle the wide vette tire. alot of horror stories of scracthed rims ect.

http://www.goodyeartires.com/ Make sure you look for the symbol. Without that they can't do runflats. Even then they might not be able to do our rim size. Once you find the right GY shop they will fix it free.
You might also check your dealership. Many of them are trained and equipped to repair minor punctures like this. My dealership repaired one puncture for me, and replaced another tire under warranty that developed a sidewall bubble at 1500 miles.
I simple plug installed from the outside voids your tire warranty and also the speed rating of that tire. Been there, done that. Luckily my GY tire guy looked the other way...
I have plugged literally dozens of tires in the past & never the first problem. You guys have run into that yourself??? There is a risk factor in everything in life. Its a risk that most see as minimal I think. I feel safer on a plugged tire than on an airplane.

Of course, but you're extending the risk you're willing to take to any passenger in the car that you chose to plug a tire in.
If this is the original set of tires on your car (can't tell because you have no info. in your profile) it will be covered under the Goodyear tire warranty that came with your car. Look for a 3-fold Goodyear pamphlet that came with your original paperwork.
Under the warranty, if it can be repaired that will be done for free. If not (closer than about the width of a quarter from the sidewall) the tire will be replaced for free if you're within the first 12 months and 2/32" of treadwear. Otherwise I believe it will be pro-rated. Read the pamphlet for all the details.
If you take it to a Goodyear store make sure they are "runflat certified"....check the Goodyear website and ask them. Also watch them like a hawk and make sure they lift the car properly and using pucks (take a set along) so as not to do damage to your rockers or anything else.
