Accessory mode question
I have an '07 A6 - if I put my car in Accessory mode, I can put the car into gear without pressing the brake. I found this to be unusual, especially since you can't do this in the ignition mode.
Is this normal?

I don't have a A6 but it does sound unusual. Seems like the car could roll then if it were accidentally put in neutral. In another car I have, in "acc" the auto trans gearshift can't be moved at all, with or without brake pedal pressure.

Can someone verify by trying in their car?

This is too weird; from '07 to '08 they made a change? Sounds like the must-put-in-reverse-to-shut-down for man trans in '05, subsequently changed.
Personally, I think it's a safety issue for the auto trans, but that's just my opinion.

My '07 allows me to move the shifter w/o using the brake while in ACC mode.

I'm away from my 09 or I'd check it.
So, Just a wild guess here but has anyone tried it with the E Brake On.
And then with it Off to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for confirming, at least I know that it is the norm for the car, but I certainly think that it could be a safety issue.

I just checked my A6 09 and the shifter will Not come out of park when in accessory Mode unless I step on the Brake.
Doesn't matter if the E Brake is on or off.
