Have any of you had the warranty work for your top completed and if so how long does it take? I am talking about the recall for replacing the front roof brace or spreader.
Got the notice last weekend. Called the local dealer today. They hadn't heard of it, but ordered the part. When it comes in I will have it fixed. It is simply removing 5 screws and putting on the new bracket. Also found out I need to put on a Mercury Disposal Labe. I think I'll pass on that one. GM sent one to me in the mail today. Dan
(2006 vert.) I am on my 3rd liner in 3 years and will get another new one this Fall - I can tell already. The first one, the original, + 2 more were normal 3yr/36K warantee. No I get it done under the 12 months GM Parts Warrantee.
It seems they cannot provide me with one that will not have holes in it within 6 months of putting it on -always the same, over the passenger's head (worst) and over the driver's head (plenty bad).
I knew when I bought the car - what I was buying. However, damit, if these yo-yo's cannot engineer things like a liner to fit and be serviceable for 36 months, I'll keep taking it back to them each Fall for a new liner.
That's the norm now - go get a new liner in October and then store the car 'til April.
Save the Vette - but let the rest of the ship (GM) sink.

I think he's referring to the convertible top header recall. Some have said that they installed it themselves and that it was easy. I too have had my liner replaced although the holes haven't come back; same place as yours.
The liner is a different issue - it has to do with the edges of the bolts being sharp and cutting the liner at the rear hinge area. There has been alot of message traffic on it inthis forum.
I got the recall and was told by my dealer that WHEN they get the parts it should be a 30 - 45 minute job. Think I'll have them put the mercury warning label on at the same time
At my age I'll take all the screws I can get....so I will do it myself when the parts come in. I do NOT want some "mechanic" leaning all over my BLACK Vert scratching it. After all, I want to be very very shiny for my shineoff with Wolfie...

Dan, you know that will void your Mercury Disposal warranty - right? Pretty risky move.
Hope the weather has turned up there so you can back that bad boy out and go for a ride.

I'm going to wait until they "practice" on a few cars and they are well into the recall b4 I bring my car in for it. I don't want to be one of the first to bring my car in and have the mechanic "learning" on my car!
