My brother just bought a 2005 SSR. He said " I have something that will run with your vette". He said it has 450 hp, headers, not sure what else. Would a stock LS2 in the vette run with a modified LS2 in the SSR?

Yeah, yeah . . .take it to the strip, title for title. . . . tell him to put up or shut up!

i really appreciate the fun you brought to my evening!
Unless he is supercharged and there is a professional driver behind the wheel, an SSR is an EASY kill 0 to 60 (7 seconds!!) or at the 1/4 mile....no way he is going to run with you. The SSR weighs something near 4,700 lbs!!!!!.....no kidding -- the thing is such a fatso, it would take 700 HP to beat you.....its a slug!
If you see a SC and some big shots of nitros then worry. Have him go to the local strip and prove his time. If he can't reach 13 don't even bother to run.
The 03 and 04 SSRs had a 300 HP 5.3 engine...the 05 and 06 upgraded to the 400 HP LS2 engine...I have a bone stock 05...It has surprised a lot of folks with those 400 ponies and 3.73 gears, but NO WAY will it take a C5 or C6 Vette, it simply weighs too much (about 4800 pounds)...However, it always draws more attention than any of my Vettes, including my C6Z...People LOVE to watch that top do it's thing

Well...yeah!
OK, one thing..."curb weight (lbs) 4,760"
and don't forget the Trailblazer frame!
It takes lots of power to get that kind of cubic tonnage moving. It would take almost 600 HP to get close to same Power to weight ratio of the Vette. (about 8 to 1 for the Vette, 10.5 to 1 for the SSR assuming it actually has 450 hp) !!!!

Dont forget the Vette is far more aerodynamic than the SSR is too....I get about TWICE the fuel mileage in my Vettes (C5 Coupe, C5 Vert, C6Z) than I do the SSR....Additional weight, poor aerodynamics and gear ratio (3.73) make the SSR drink the gas...

.... we had a '04 SSR for awhile, and it does attrack more attention than any vette i've owned......(the grandsport attracted alot of attention too though)

Just to clarify, the earlier SSR's had 0-60 times of 7.6 seconds whereas the 2005 and later trucks w/ the LS2 put up 5.5 second times. A huge improvement, but still no match for a Vette with a semi-competent driver.
