Default C6 attainable?

Hey guys. I recently decided to buy my dream car. A corvette obviously or I wouldn't be here. I am looking for a nice weekend driver, and probably some week nights too.

I have been looking at the C5 Z06 but have started to give the C6 a little more thought after looking at the prices. I prefer the FRC style of the Z06 but the targa top could be cool.

I am really only looking to spend 23-27K, preferably 25/26 on a car that has less than 30K miles it. I want to get a 6 speed. It would be the first 6 speed car I own. The other car I own is more of a show car but its an auto.

My goal if I got the C6 route would be a 2006. I try to stay away from the first production run of cars. I heard they had some problems but I'll admit I haven't researched it to much. I also hate the steering wheel on the 2005's. It might seem petty but its probably the one thing you see the most while driving any car.

Color wise I have always wanted a sunset orange car, seeing how those are harder to find, I would also like black, navy blue, metallic red

I know a few people with C6's and my friends father has a C6 Z06. That car is awesome, fast, and smooth but out of my price range.

I'm sure this question has been asked before. I'm not going to ask which car is better because only I can answer which car is better for me. I'm sure both the C5's and C6's have their good and bad points. I just want to know if what I'm looking for is reasonable.

Absolutely attainable. Now is the perfect time to find a used Vette at a great price.

But when you say 6 speed, I assume you mean a manual trans (M6) as the auto in a 2006 and newer is also a 6 speed (A6)

I would not compromise in what you want. Most of us have been fortunate enough to own several Corvettes and always get what you want.

Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic aka DSOM,

It's gonna be hard to find a low mile 06 for under 28K. Having spent much time in both, I highly recommend the C6 over the C5 z06. Good luck, deals are out there.

You don't need to get exactly what you want. Get something close and mod the heck out of it!!

here we go again
There is nothing wrong with the 2005 c6. As a whole they are great cars. If you search this subject on this forum you will see this discussed often and as recently as yesterday. I am only one car, however I have had zero problems. There are some very respected folks here who also have 2005 and they also will chime in with no problems. I go through this because a) the blanket statement is false and b) at that price range you will probably be looking at 2005.
No matter what enjoy your Corvette experience, and wave.

Yes I am looking for an M6 not an A6.

Well like I said I haven't done much research on it. I have found a few cars 05/06 in my price range. I have found one DSOM car in VA, little far away for me though. Most of the cars in my area C5/C6 tend to be over priced.

I doubt you can get a decent 06' for 27 or less. However, I found a beautiful 05' for exactly 27K.

Good luck in your search. These are awesome machines. You won't regret it.

Don't mean to be argumenative but you say they are "overpriced" maybe you are "undervalueing".

What you are asking for is very reasonable. I just picked up a 2006 C6 Coupe a month ago in the mid 30K area but it had 8100 miles on it. If you go with something in the mid to high 20K miles area you should be able to find something in nice condition for your price range.

I do want to say we seem to have similiar taste and your reasons are exactly why I went with the 2006 vs the 05.

Keep in mind that you can look not just in your local area but further if your willing to drive to get it or have it shipped to you via a carrier. I hear the prices for these are not that bad.

Good luck and let us know when you get and show us pics

Waited a long time for my first vette. I debated the C5 vs C6. Drove them both. Still couldn't decide. So for the sake of dollars and finding something I liked equipment and color etc... I bought a 2003 coupe, electron Blue, tan interior, 30k miles, 1 owner. Drove it 3 months and spotted a C6 vert, millennium yellow with only 4K miles on it. Took it for a ride, roof down, and feel in love. I decided life is way tooooo short and I waited way toooo long. Bought 2005, sold the 2003 and have no regrets.

I bought my 96 (C4) new.. I put 70,000 miles on it most of them 1/4 mile at a time... Daymm that was a GREAT car.. I had it 12 yrs... When I got an offer I couldn't refuse last Sept I sold it.. but could not afford a "Brand New C6... so I bought an 05 Automatic with 6,000 miles on it..

It has every option made with the exception of Navigation...I paid $32k back then... I now have 12,000 miles on the car.. "Again many 1/4 mile at a time at Englishtown Raceway Park...

I love it & wouldn't trade it for the world!! I'm a little older than you, but when I'm driving my C6 I feel younger

Don't let anyone scare you away from an 05 C6 if you find one at the right price and condition GO FOR IT !!

I'm not totally against a 2005. I know a 2005 will be more attainable than a 2006 just because it is a year older. The only thing that I really find ugly is the steering wheel. I could probably swap it. I know the LS2's are solid motors so I am not worried about that.

You should be able to get pretty close to what your looking for. I would think you could get to your price and mileage if your looking at a base 1lt or even possible a 2lt.

I would buy a C5 Coupe loaded with hud and memory seats 2002-2004 with low miles.

You will spend 15-20k and have an awesome car.

Don't forget the C5 is revolutionary. The C6 is evolutionary.

But if your not into saving your Green... Possibly an 06 MN6 Coupe is in your future.

I'm like you too many weird thing with the 05's such as steering wheel, wart, etc.

This car would have been ideal. A little more than I was looking to spend but im sure a deal could have been worked out and it wasn't that far away
