I have a C6, 2006, and am thinking about taking it on a trip out west, Rte-66, this summer. I have been looking at the ads for a bra to help prevent damage and have also talked to a few friends. The end result I don't know who to believe. The ads say no scratches etc my friends say then plastic strip that goes against the hood from l-r will leave a scratch. Also what is the best type to attach it to the car.
If you are just going to use it for road trips and not looking to spend big bucks get the GM Bra, it fits good, looks as good as most others and only cost around $100.00. No issues with scratches, etc.
I picked up a GM bra for mine to use on road trips/cruises. Takes a little while to put on the first time, but then you get the hang of it. Works great and fits nice.
I have a Colgan bra on the car and a spare GM one new in the box (not sure why . . .) but it's been especially helpful on roadtrips out here in the desert. Thusfar, I've not discovered any areas where the paint appears to be rubbed or thin.
Holler if you get out this way - - our Corvette Club meets the second Wednesday of each month - - I'll buy the first beer!
I had a COLGAN bra only for trips.Never quite got it on 100% right so it did scratch the bumper cover a little.I have a GM one now that I haven't used or installed yet. It's got the snaps on it so hopefully it'll work better.
Think about a clear bra. They cost a little more but are well worth it. It is virtually invisible and is always on. I've had mine for a year and it has paid for itself many times over. The problem with the removable ones is even if the bra itself does not scratch, if you get some dirt or other object trapped under there during your drive the wind action moving the bra around a little bit can cause scratches. I've had it happen on other cars. YMMV.
If you want to go the cheaper route then take a look at the GM Bra. It's a great value. If you're going to spend more than that then go for a clear bra.
Love my GM BRA, nice tight fit. Doesnt move or flap even at highway speeds, havent had any scratches. The only places that get a little dirt is right where they snap at the front tires.
I met a C5 on the Interstate and its BRA was waving at me in the wind.....just make sure its secured!
