Default more HP

In your opinion(s) what simple mods would give enough HP to bring down the ET from 12.4 to 11.9 - a full 1/2 second? The only mod is the Vararam which shaved about 3/10 sec off.

Would a performance tune do this or would there be more expense than that (headers/cam/etc)?

From what I've seen, here. A tune, a cool night at the strip, and some practice will get you very close, if not there. - Assuming you are now at 12.40. -- Good luck. -- --

Don't think thats will do it. He needs 50 or more hp, tune is worth 5-10, headers 25 or so, gears 2-3 tenths. Agree with MARSC6.

I'm certainly not an expert on this. I'm just going by the "Fast List" of "Showroom Stock" C6's on pg 203 of the "Fast List", on this forum. There's 15 guys under 12.40. - I've also seen a few posts from guys, not listed, who got to the very low 12's or high 11's, near stock, under favorable conditions at the track. -- --

That is pretty much what I have been hearing but I was hoping for the best. Can't do all those particular mods until I retire in August because of working so many hours. It gives me something to plan for this fall.

thanks!

E3 sparkplugs showed a 6 or 8 hp gain over stock plugs on muscle car tv in a chevy small block. Cheap hp if they work.

Agree, the op wanted to know how to gain 1/2 second. His driving skills probably are not at the level of those getting the times you mentioned. A lot of people on here that race claim 1/10 for each 10 hp. Hence 5/10 50 hp. If he's running 12.4, a tune will not get him 5/10. 50 hp may not get him there either.. Just tried to give him a simple answer to a simple question. Since he only has a Vararam and got 3/10 which is excellent, he is going to need some ponies to get another 5/10. Increased driving skills will go a long way. May op can post a timeslip so we can evaluate r/t, 60 ft. etc. What do you think?

My buddy ran an 11.6 in a 2007 coupe with Kooks header, Tune, Z06 Mufflers, CAI, 3:43 gears, Fast 92
11.63 @ 118.4 1.79 60ft

It's not a static number when you get down to these times. It takes more HP to go from a 12.5 to an 11.99 than it would from say a 15.5 to a 14.99

It's a ballpark number. Not like 49 won't and 50 will. The threads generally lean that way, but no magic formula. Header give roughly 25 hp and 2-2.5 tenths. CAI 10 or so hp and a tenth, gears give no hp but still get 2-3 tenths. Ported fast gives around 25 hp(on a H/C car) and they give 2-3 tenths. Thats the idea I was trying to express. Headers and gears should do it, a tune and a cold evening won't.

I'm surprised no one has said it yet.

It All Depends...How much do you have to spend? More $ = More HP.

I'm sure that the 15 guys, that I referred to, are not "rookies". I agree that more info would be helpful. -- --
