Default Hud question

Looking at an 06 C6 without a HUD. Love to have a hud and is this a hard thing to add on? I know people did it for their C5s, just curious if anyone here has done it to their C6...thanks.

I would wait and find one with a HUD. There are tons of Vettes out there for sale now.

But if you do a search on the forum I have read about people adding HUD's to their cars.

A proper installation requires a different windshield, they say it will work with a non-hud windshield but a factory hud equipped vette does have a special windshield. Drive it a while and see if you miss it. I don't use mine and I understand it is very expensive to repair out of warranty as is everything chevy makes these days. ($450 water pump, $200 standard shocks)

If I had to, I would literally take out a loan to replace mine if it went bad. I like it that much.

It can be done. Took me a saturday to install. Works fine on the standard windshield, though since mine is cracked, i'll most likely swap to the HUD windshield so I can report back on if there is any appreciable difference.

Search it out. It's been done several times on here.If you have to pay for it,it'll be somewhere in the 300-500 range.I am in the process of putting it in my 1lt.I will have someone do it who knows what they're doing. There's a guy on here who actually installed it in 2 hours.
P.S. It works fine with the regular windshield.

I would get one with a HUD.

I look at my analog gauges and the DIC information constantly, BUT I always look at the HUD for the speedometer (It's right in front of your eyes).

I barely look at the HUD. On bright days it's difficult to see. It sits low to the dash so I natrally look at the gauges. If I didn't have a HUD, I'd probably want one, thinking I was missing out and how cool it must be to have the speedo up high where I can see it. Then if I spent all that money and time to install one, fired it up and saw what that effort bought me, I'd take a small batt and thump myself upside the head. Your milage may vary.
