Default Replacement Door Button and Ignition Button

Hey all,

I need to replace my worn out driver's door release button and my ignition button. Both buttons are pretty worn down.

Does anybody know where I can get the stock replacements and if I can install myself?

See worn down buttons pics below:

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet, a long time supporting dealer here on the Forum.

Give Tom a call at 800-234-5284 as we can get you the parts you need at less than wholesale prices and no sales tax.

it would also be a good time to consider a painted ingnition button from
Jimmy at Atomic Autosports or a chrome one from tkoperformance.com

Congratulations, wearing out the buttons that start and stop the car, and the button that lets you out must make you eligible for some kind of award around here. Maybe the anti-garage queen award.

Thanks for the options!

Does anybody have installation instructions? Or has replaced the buttons?

I've replaced the door button, takes about 2 minutes, take a flat blade small screwdriver nuzzle the outer silver bezel up. It will pop right off, then you'll see the button is just a plug in to the housing. Takes no time at all. Ignition button I haven't done.

the ignition button takes about 15 minutes to replace:
-take the torx screws out of the driver's bottom bolster.
-take bolster out.
-you should then be able to pop the bottom of the cover that houses the ignition out just enough.
-reach behind the ignition switch. The switch is held down by 4 tabs.
-pull them away from the switch gently while pushing the switch in towards the back of the trim piece.
-the switch will eventually push out from behind the cluster trim.
-Unhook the harness.
- install the harness into the replacement switch.
-Push the switch in until you hear it click in place.
-Snap the trim back in place.
-re-install the bolster piece.

I'll look around for some good pricing and try the install. It seems easy enough.

Thanks, corvettezman! As much as I'd like to cut to the happy ending, I'm going to follow all of your directions to replace my worn out ignition button.
