I've been driving to Florida and back for the last two years with my C6. One replaced windshield ($1,700) and some small chips on the hood. I had a bra on the car, but the chips occurred above the bra protection.
I wouldn't be adverse to putting the windshield protection for long drives. Also, I'm looking for that white electrostatic film that you see on new cars when they're being delivered to the dealerships.
I agree that putting all that protection is overkill for local driving, but long drives in interstate highways puts a lot of wear and tear on the car.
I think that's a great idea and I wish I had done it. My 05 has 42k on it and the windshiekd is very crazed, and in some sun light, looks like crap. I've read that the glass is so "soft" in order to make the curves without distorting the view, that it is prone to pitting and crazing.
Sounds like that might be the product. First, a product warranty is only as good as the installer. They listed mostly Tint Shops. A guy with a Tint Shop might have a store front location this week and next week he has a metal shed next to a closed mini-mart where he details cars. They come and go. I also saw nothing about cost or removal. Might be a good product, might be snake oil.

I don't know if this is the product that my installer is talking about. The installer does clear bras and tinting and has been around for about 10 years so I think he wouldn't sell something that doesn't work. the reason I started this thread I wanted to know if anybody has ever used it but it sounds like I'm going to be the test mule and will keep everybody informed as to the type, price and worth of the product.

Mike, where is the price point (I know everyone has a different one) that you would say that it's too much for the product? If it was $200, I'd be willing to try it. If it was $800, I wouldn't. Somewhere in between, I'd have to think about it before I took the leap. But that's just me. Just curious.. do you have an amount in mind that you would think was the top amount you'd be willing to invest in the process?
Thanks.

hmmm. price point is relative (to be philosophical) what is too much for me may not be for you or some one else. I live in the land of the well heeled so I'm going to pay a premium for the product and the install. I think 200$ to 300$ is ok but not for a 1 year warranty it's got to be lifetime. so we will see I'll make sure that everybody gets the next installment in the saga of "the quest for the clear plastic windshield"
