Seriously?!
Someone asks a legitimate question about the origin of an aftermarket piece. There is speculation and opinions but nothing derogatory is said about the manufacturer of said piece. Then the manufacturer posts a response that deflects the question while giving a vague answer. The mods deem this an efficient response and deletes the thread without giving anyone a chance to follow up. Are we not all here to learn? Is it not to the the benefit of all members and Corvette owners to get as much accurate information as possible? Isn't that what this site is for? Perhaps I misunderstood our reason for joining. Or perhaps I should become a supporting vendor and/or moderator so I can have a say in what the "truth" really is.

In all honesty it's not going to get anywhere. Neither is this thread actually but I felt like posting. It's just frustrating when I/we try to learn something but if it happens to pose a potential threat against a supporting vendor, the truth struggles to get out. I just posted a question about the response from the vendor in the thread I am venting about and within less than 5 minutes the entire thread was deleted. Nothing said was derogatory and the thread was staying respectful. I don't feel the response was complete and I had some further questions. I'm sure other members did as well. I want to learn as much as I can and sometimes this forum holds us back. PMing the mods will not get anywhere because it's not a specific question I have. It's more of the general tone of the site. I know many members who have similar gripes and I'd rather post it publicly so that we can all realize what goes on around here sometimes. It's not all bad, in fact far from it. This is a great site to learn from....when they allow it.

I was following the thread in an attempt to learn a thing or two. Like, how many members knew that almost all exhaust tips on aftermarket mufflers are made Asia? I didn't.
I can understand the Mods deleting a thread if it gets out of hand.. or if a member goes overboard... I'll admit I started to give "Wise Azz" replies to a certain member, and was told to knock it off...
In that case I think the Mods were correct.... however on the other side of the coin.. Lets say I make a (example) new "Air Intake" lets call it "JPEE's Super Intake" & I become a vendor here.. (I do not know anything about it, I assume you have to pay the forum $$) But What IF I start selling JPEE's intake & they cause engine failures because of poor quality or a bad design...
Now some members start to post about how they blew an engine after installing JPEE's Intake... will the Mods permit a continual bashing or even "Informing" other members of what happened when they used my product?? (I Don't know what the policy is)
I DO think members should be ..shall we say controlled or prevented from making this place a "Nut House".. they should be civil..
However where do you draw the line from "Bashing" a Vendor" to "Informing" other members of a poor quality product?
This as many other sites are a businees trying to make a profit. They have some rules on posting bad vendor info, but Moderators are to quick to close threads in my opinion in protection of Forum Vendors.
If you have suggestions for the improvement of the Forum or questions or criticism of the Forum or its moderation, you are welcome to PM or e-mail a moderator. Please do not use an open thread for such messages, however.
The work on the Forum's volunteer moderators is difficult enough without having folks calling them out in open threads.
I personally have no idea what thread you're talking about, but try to PM the mod who closed it for an explanation instead of criticizing the forum moderation in the open forum.
