Grand Sport Base Price Announced!
OK, so here's what I have so far.
2010 Grand Sport Coupe starts at $55,720 including DFC
2010 Grand Sport Convertible starts at $59,530 including DFC.
Going off current year pricing, that's $6,205 more for a coupe and $5,360 for a convertible.
Since the base price on the coupe and the convertible are bound to go up some for 2010, that's not bad. Also, take into account that anyone who wants a GS probably would have ordered the Z51 which is another $1,695 off the difference.
All in all, I think we have a real winner!

That is actually quite a reasonable price. It usually costs about $10,000 for a paint matched conversion. Overall, one would save a few grand and pick up a track suspension.

That is not a bad "price" for the GS considering that a wide body conversion will cost 2-3x that....

Not a bad price at all.

Thanks Dave!
I don't think anyone can complain about that price considering the additional bits that make up the Grand Sport. I'm curious to see how much the heritage package adds to the cost.

Real good base price! I'm still waiting on prices on options, but at least we have a good place to start!

So, $6,205 - $1695 = $4,510, for a widebody, bigger tires and wheels, and a drysump oil system, that's cool. The next question will be the base price of a 2010. The base price on my 2008 was $45,400. The current base price of a 2009 coupe is $49,515, difference, $4,110, or 9.05%. Seeing as how G.M. has 0 pricing power in this market, to raise the base price of a 2010 would be kind of crazy. I wonder how much they'll raise it? If I were in the market for a new Vette right now I'd probably buy it, but not if the Z51 package was still available. They had to drop the Z51 in order to sell the GS. I think it looks great though.

I guess it's left to me to be the voice of "counter point". While it may not seem like a lot - you can't compare it to an conversion. When you get done with a conversion, you still have two sets of fenders, two sets of wheels and tires etc. The GS parts replace the standards parts - not in addition to the standard parts (except things like the dry sump, of course).
But, I stated this before and I will again. Someone who wants a Corvette with the Z51 package is now forced to take $4,500 or so in additional stuff that they may not be able to afford. A typically loaded GS coupe (meaning with 3LT package) is now going to be a $60,000+ car.
I think this is going to hurt sales - especially in the current economic climate. Don't get me wrong, I like the package and there is a chance that my Z06 will get traded some day for a GS convertible. I just think they made a mistake by not offereing Z51 without the additional GS stuff.
On a brighter note - thanks for posting Dave. You are still the man!

Good job GM. I picked up my 09 Z51 convertible the day after the GS was announced. I almost backed out of the deal because of the GS, but figured the price would be 6-7k on top of what I paid, so I went ahead with the 09. Turns out its only another 3,700 or so. I would have paid that. Seems like a nice package at a nice price.

Awesome news..
The 4500 dollars for the dry sump oiling system, wide body, bigger wheels and tire... and the 1700 z51 suspension portion...
This is a great deal.
GM was sharp with this price point.
Good move.
thanks for the heads up.
