For you buyers you better do your homework because the cons will figure it all out. They're not all oversees either. Even CF has been subjected but it's not as common, yet!
Good thing is we got a lot of smart guys on here but we also got some who are gullible. Human nature I guess.

Bottom line, how can you think that making a phone call, to check out a car that's for sale, is some how going to put you in financial danger. What are you afraid of, what's he going to do to you? If he asks you for sensitive information, are you afraid he will hypnotize you and take advantage of you. If strangers ask you to do stupid things, are you compelled to comply. Now we are suppose to be afraid of Ebay? I don't think it's such a great deal, but if I did, I could be at his door to check out this car, anywhere in the U.S.A., in the morning.
First thing to look for is that any low price car they list, which obviously costs thousands more, is missing a VIN. His email letter is a crock of sh**. If you search around more you'll come across fake ads like these on autotrader with other make and models.

Yes yes...of course, do not listen to fellow forum members that know these "deals" aren't legit....clearly you should check them all out and take up your time doing so.
Meanwhile...us "in the know" will sit back and get a good chuckle out of you guys that do that.

Yup...been going on for quite a while. A year or so ago they would hijack legit ads that had just expired and put in the message body to contact them at a particular email addy and not respond to the ad.
The current incantation of these illegitimate ads is they keep the price of the car, pictures, description, etc., but overwrite their lower price in the picture. This doesn't tip off the Autotrader people as quickly because the posted price is a legitimate asking price...the price overlaid on the picture, obviously, isn't.
If anyone thinks an '06 Vette with those features/miles is going to sell for $18000 or whatever their "too good" price was, they deserve to be scammed.
This type of scam has been going on for sometime now. If you google the vin number you will often find the real ad the scammer is using to get the information from. Have a look at http://www.chooseyouritem.com/autos/...0/4794876.html
What I think is a real shame is auto trader is not doing enough to prevent this. Even when I have report a very similar scam to them in the past it took them days to take the ad down, only to have one almost identical appear a day later.
