Default Question for vert owners...

I would like to see if this is something that Vert owners might be interested in....If so we will design and start manufacturing it.

You might have heard/seen the thread about our new product BLOCKIT which is an easy "drop in" sound deadening system which easily lays right over you carpet!
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ur-carpet.html

We just released it so towards the last pages, the reviews (all good) are starting to come in..

I came up with the idea for the coupe.
The exhaust & tire noise leaks right on through. Is it just as bad in the vert? I know outside exterior noise might by higher but I did not think the design would allow as much of the exhaust noise to come through.
I received a few inquiries but I thought I would toss it out here on a broader scale to see if its something that vert owners are really bothered by and might be interested in fixing..

Feel free to post here, call or email us sale@tkoperformance.com to let us know.
I appreciate it.
Thank you. Ed

Most of the noise comes in thru the rag top. If this actually did help with noise reduction, it would be a good product. I guess a prototype and test drive would answer that question.

No it is not as bad. If you really looked at the construction of a convertible Corvette C6, you wouldn't even have to ask. All that noise is already blocked by the convertible's better noise isolation.

As a vert owner one is always used to a certain amount of noise. I have actually found the C6 vert to be pretty quiet compared to other verts I have owned or driven. With the top down you really cannot complain about anything in a vert with the exception of its wind blocking abilities (I am talking about in general here). Any other complaints about noise and I'd have to ask the complainer exactly what he/she thought would happen when they put the top down and drove around!?! I will also say with the top up I do not see an issue.

Having a bulkhead between the passenger compartment and the trunk really does a very good job of minimizing the rear tire and exhaust noise in the Vert. It is considerably quieter with the top up than is the coupe. It is also quieter with the top down than is the coupe with the top off. I would be surprised if the product would offer any improvement in a Vert.

X2

Would your product reduce the heat in the trunk?

Might be an application there for those that don't want to install one of the insulation "kits".

Only problem I've had with the vert is heat from the exhausts routed under the middle of the trunk space. Worse than my C5, where the buckets were mounted towards the corners.

Solved the heat problem by buying a $10 piece of insulation from Home Depot and cutting it to shape the trunk. Covered with matching carpet.

Heat gone. Noise no different because it wasn't a problem in the first place.

So, noise not an issue in my convertible. Next Corvette will be a coupe, so will be looking at your great product!

Seems your all confirming what we originally thought and stated in our original first post.
Again, we did get a few asking if we would make our system for the verts (sprinkled through out that thread I linked in my first post). Nothing like going straight to the source

As for heat, the system will suppress it but If sound is not an issue, your better off with WMark's idea of $10 solution.

As always, a big help. We appreciate it!

Ed

Sounds like you solved the problem I have. If I go grocery shopping with the wife....it's a race to get the Ice Cream home before it melts. What kind of insulation did you get at Home Depot? Thanks

I haven't had any heat issues in the trunk. What symptoms are/were you seeing?

I have to agree, and question where it would go. If in the trunk I already have a mat/logo, so to add something else I feel would be of minimal affect. And, I drive with the top down 90% of the time. Sorry.

My power top vert is much quieter than my coupe was.

TKO has a great product for the coupe, and asked about the convertible. I added my 2 cents, but didn't mean to high-jack the thread. For those of you who are interested in what I did, I will PM you (including TKO!), and leave it off this thread.

As I said, I'm done with convertibles. My next Corvette will be a coupe, and I will be very interested in TKO's product. It does much more than my cheap convert heat fix.

Apologize to TKO for not thinking about my post!

Not at all Your answer was exactly what we were looking for...

BLOCKIT is an acoustical sound deadening system that was made & pre cut for the coupe. We released it and announced it here on the forum. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ur-carpet.html
During that thread we had vert owners ask us to let them know when the vert version was done.

As mentioned in my first post, We did not think vert owners would benefit from our product. But we wanted feedback just in case so we went directly to the source......here.

Absolutely no harm no foul by you.. I appreciate your input and the thoughts of others.. Personally I think we found our answer. You guys save us a lot of time, energy & money.

Take it ease!
