I would try meguiars scratch x first. I use it after wetsanding to polish the small interior parts I paint. If it works for that it should remove the spots.

Clay bar will take it right out. I know this from experience.

To the best of my recollection, bird guano is a caustic alkali and not acid, actually the opposite. When I get bird calling cards the next time, I'm going to try the weak acid i.e.vinegar - THANKS FOR THE TIP

I just discovered the exact same thing on the hood of my CTS yesterday (it's Crystal Red). I had three coasts of Zaino on it, BTW.

I spent 30 minutes yesterday with a couple of fairly mild to medium mild compounds. I got most of it out - although I can still see it if I look close at the right angle. BTW, clay bar did nothing to get rid of it.

I'm going to let is sit a few weeks and hit it again if it doesn't go away on it's own.

Frustrating!

It won't go away on it's own. I just had to buff out my daughters Saturn Vue with carbon metallic paint using 3M #05996 Perfect-it foam polishing compound and matching gray foam pad. This is non-abrasive and will clear up the "shadow" or dull area. I thought for sure the bird crap had penetrated the clear but it cleaned right up.

I have heard that what we commonly call tree sap is actually bug poop. Think about it.

Default Thanks for the advice

I really appreciate the additional suggestions. I have never had this problem before. Previously used liquid glass on 2000 Mag Red C5 as well. Very disturbed by reply about Crystal Red CTS and bird dropping marks as I have 2008 Crystal Red CTS as my daily driver. I am going to try:
1. 50% vinegar solution
2. rubbing alcohol

Will post results.

Regards,

Rich

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I can assure you I worked on mine with a claybar several times yesterday and it had zero effect. If the clearcoat is truly etched, a claybar will do nothing for that.

Default Progress Report

Spots appear to be fading except for a very large one on fender. I tried vinegar and rubbing alcohol without any result. I am going to leave the spots for a week to see what happens.

Thanks everyone
