The only thing that bothers me with the manual... and it may be the same with the power top, is the interlocks. I have the car running, in neutral, and open the door to get out... @$&#$! door won't open. (Ok, so I don't swear, but you get the idea of how frustrating it is.) I have to hit the unlock button at least once, sometimes multiple times to get the door to allow me the privlege to exit my car to put the top down. Sometimes this is in my driveway after I exit my garage, other times sitting at a long light near work.
Do those of you with the power top, suffer from something similar ie car is running, and it won't lower or raise the top until you shut the car off?
I agree; interlocks can be a pain. The only interlock with the power top is that the e-brake must be engaged when opening or closing. One click on the e-brake will allow you to cycle the top on a roll but use caution to not be going too fast.
I would have gone for the manual top in a hot second, but I wanted the HUD and the heated seats, so I had to take the power top also. The top itself is SO small that manually raising and lowering it would be easy.
Its a joke that a car of this caliber would even have a manual top.
GM can get away with the trim level tricks because the top is so small that you can work it as a manual. The bimmer top will operate under 20mph. Hell my old 84 mustang GT that I had would operate on the fly.

Was this because that's what the car came with? I have both of those in the 3LT package and have the manual top.
I ordered a manual top on my 2008....just didnt want to pay all that money just to get a power top. I have no problems with it...unlike my two club buddies with power tops who have had problems. Bottom line, if its worth it to just push a button and not have to get in and out, then go for it. It wasnt worth it for me......
