i have a low ceiling height so i use a www.ezcarlift.com lift. it's portable for track use if needed, lifts car 28" which is more than enough and with the available caster set you can move it around your garage.

I have a low garage door and only an 11ft ceiling. The trick was to get a "high lift kit" to have the door open closer to the ceiling and use a front mounted torsion spring as opposed to the typical extension springs. I was able to get both at Home Depot for a Clopay door. In addition, you need to put a positive stop on the garage door rails ( a bolt through them ) to prevent the door from opening too far and hitting your car's roof. With these steps I am able to put a '71 Vette on the highest setting on the backyard buddy and store another car below it in a standard 2 car garage.

I have had a Bendpak HD-9XW 9000 lb 4 post Lift for a couple of years. (http://www.bendpak.com/products/auto...fts/hd-9xw.php)
It's been great, I can park my F350 4x4 dually under the vet in the winter.
I bought it from Automotive Service Equipment (http://www.asedeals.com/garage_lift.html).
It is a heavy duty American made lift that is less than $3000 delivered. They have several other models if you don't need the clearance for a large vehicle underneath.

I have two Backyard Buddy's. One for 5 years and got the second one last fall. They have been flawless. Use one for storage of a '62 and '67 and use the other one for maintenance for everything from a C5 to a 3/4 ton pickup.

I've had a Forward DP10A 10,000lb capacity 2-post lift for about 10 years and it has been completely trouble free:

Its a very strong design with large drive through clearance. Only challenge is that the arms are so beefy (though still very low) that I have to lift the 'Vette significantly further back than any other car or truck to prevent the stationary part of the arms from contacting the rocker area! I've lifted large Chevy HD2500 diesel pickups on this lift without straining it at all.
I'm in the process of completing another building with one bay earmarked for a 4-post storage lift. I'll probably end up with a BendPak, Backyard Buddy, or similar 9,000 lb capacity model there.

I have a Bend Pak and a Dannmar lift. I will be adding a third lift and it will be a Dannmar. The Bend Pak is a great lift and the one I have is the extra wide and tall because I use it to service my quad cab truck and I needed the width. The Dannmar model is just as tall but it is standard width.
I am pleased with both. The Bend Pak is three years old now and the Dannmar is 2.
The next one will go between the two but I must find a place for the nine bikes that are suspended from the ceiling first. You can only see the one post of the Dannmar and the lifting dolly to move it. I assembled it where the center covered car is and pushed it over. There is a third door for that area but the car hauler was parked in front of it and it was easier to move the lift over than to move and re-park the trailer.

I have a Superior Lift. I got it on a group purchase on the Corvette Forum about eight years ago. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty on parts, but they would not warrant my hydraulic cylinder when it started leaking. They did send new seals, but when that didn't work, they wanted to sell me a new cylinder for $800. I finally gave up on them fixing the problem and bought a new hydraulic cylinder from another lift company for $275 shipped half way across the country. I DO NOT recommend Superior Lift.

KRAMER: Now look, we're going to stop at the shoe maker right now. You gotta get some lifts for your shoes.
MICKEY: Lifts?! Look Kramer you don't understand, this kind of thing is just not done.

I have a 4 post for about 14 years now. It was made by M I Steel/Parking Solutions. I am not sure if they are still around. They were more of a commercial lift company.
