This is probably a stupid question, but is it necessary to have a hoodliner on?
I am getting my SLP ram air hood put on next week and I think it will cover the inlet holes if I put it back on. It's not a big deal since I use a vararam any way but at least it can help cool the motor!
The hood liner is predominately noise reduction as a sound deadener. It is believed that at one time the hood liner was actually more of a blanket material that was designed to be more of a fire suppressant in the event of an underhood fire. The liner would fall from the hood and smother the fire. As far as I know that is not the case with the Corvette. Your exterior paint will be subject to slightly elevated temperatures from heat rising from the engine so you may see some long term effects from that.
I have been running mine for over a year without a hood liner. I took it off in order to airbrush it and just got busy taking care of other customers and have not got around to it yet. I have had zero issues.
