i was just checking my clutch fluid and looking over my powerhouse and i noticed this screw looking thing sticking out from one of the wheels on the beltline......pics below
Why would they even put one of those plastic push pins in there?
There's a threaded hole in the center of the pully and the plastic pin keeps out dirt etc.
If the pulley needed to be removed, the bolt on the removal tool would then be able to thread in without interference from dirt etc.

Hey man, I'm with you. I would have at least seriously freaked out initially.
After hearing about crankshaft harmonic balancer bolts failing, I would be very concerned.
Now I'm going to go look at mine.
However, as others posted, if it is just a dust cover, how critical is it and how good of a job is it doing if it auto-removes itself? Lastly, if it came out once, over time it should be expected to come out again, and over time, get looser - yada-yada. (geez, I scare myself sometimes ).
