Default Sunlight hazzard

I am fully aware of the potential damage to the paint, driving a Vette in the rain. As a result I normally only take mine out in late afternoon after checking the local weather radar for impending rain.

Well today I discovered an equally damaging weather condition. Bright noonday sunlight. I could just see the UV's and IR's exploding into the paint. I rushed home put it in the garage and rubbed it down with McGuires detailer.

Only time will tell if the damage is serious.

I posted this for all the newbies that may not realize the potential damage direct sunlight can cause. I recommend restricting your driving to dawn and sunset to avoid direct sunlight. And if you have to drive in the midday sun rub it down with a good UV blocker first.

You seem to have a pretty good understanding of the potential hazards of driving your Corvette in almost any type of weather condition. However, I find that after mine has been in the garage for awhile at night, it tends to soak up the darkness, dulling the paint. So now I have to keep a 40 watt bulb burning in there all the time.

Just drive your Vette like you stole it no matter what time of day it is.

Sunburn, just another unfortunate condition unique to the colorless, White C6.

Actually aren't Arctic White Corvettes only supposed to be operated above the Arctic Circle?

Yep, albinos have to be extra careful about prolonged exposure to sunlight.

As many here have found out, there are really just too many potential problems and damage associated with actually driving the C6 out on the road with other, lesser cars. With mine, its the convertible top. Can you imagine the sun damage that could occur if the fabric was exposed to all those UV rays. Its almost too much to contemplate, so I have also decided that its best to keep the car in the garage, with a UV shielded night-light, and just go in once in a while to look at it and wax it.

for christ sake, you have a car with no color. You really need to sell it and ride a bike or walk.

But you must keep in mind that if you need gas, you must pump it before midnight.

We have gotton so much rain in NY in the last 30 days that the plastic is rusting. I thought I was tanning but later found out I'm rusting too!

I refuse to let actual air touch my car. It sits in a nitrogen encapsulated bubble in my garage at all times. The tires rest on pillows filled with honey. Can't be too careful now.

Where did you find your bubble? That sounds like a great plan.

I don't fully understand the pillows filled with honey! Would plain foam pillows work just as well?
