Default Navigation Issue Help Needed

I just bought a 08 Z06 and am having navigation problems. Got newest version I think is 5.0 of maps and they are totally off from where I am driving. Also have GPS box in corner with red lin through it indication no satellite signal.

Any ideas on what I can do or will recalibration fix this? I am unsure why I am not getting satellite signal though?

Thanks

I know on my Honda that I would have to have the car parked in a clear area (no trees) and it would take 2-3 minutes for it to capture signal after battery disconnect. As for the C6, I have had no problem with getting signal except in the garage. I would take it back to the dealer and let them solve the problem, it is still under warranty.

If you are driving on an open road (no tall buildings or forest of trees) then you have an issue with your GPS antenna or the nav unit itself.

The red line through the word GPS is your problem. This means that your antenna is not picking up a signal. The map will continue to display movement as the navigation unit employs dead reckoning taking input from other sensors on board.

You need to get to the bottom of why the antenna is not picking up a signal.

A couple of questions.

Does the car have aftermarket tint on the windows or windshield?
Does the car have any sort of a dash pad?
Does the car have any aftermarket electronics mounted on the dash or center console (cell phone, music players, etc.?)

Do all other functions of the radio operate normally?

Calibration
Calibration: Touch this screen button from the
NAVIGATION SET UP screen. This feature allows you
to recalibrate the navigation system.
The Calibration screen, allows the adjustment of your
vehicle’s position or the vehicle speed signal.
To correct the position of your vehicle on the map
(for example, if your vehicle has been shipped) or to
change to the current position.
1. Select the Position/Direction screen button.
The map screen will display with your vehicle’s
current position.
2. To change your vehicle’s position, touch the map
screen.
Use the zoom in/out function to view the direction of
the desired area.
Pressing/holding and dragging on the map will
activate fast scrolling. Press/touch once on the area
to which you would like to move the current
position mark.
3. Touch the OK screen button once your vehicle is in
the current position.
If a route had already been set, the map screen will
display, select Guide to change your route to your
vehicle’s new position.
Once the process of changing your vehicle’s current
position is complete, the map screen will display with
rotate arrow screen buttons around your vehicle.
4. To change the direction of your vehicle, press either
arrow screen button to rotate your vehicle to the
correct direction.
5. Once your vehicle is facing th

In dash. Just behind and on top of the left air conditioning vent.

Paul,
My understanding was that they were located in each mirror on sides of the car from 2006 on?

Disregard, now I remember those are the XM antenna.

You have the exact same problem my 5 day old Corvette has...a POS navigation unit that is broke (red slash through the GPS, no clock and a map that's on crack). Don't bother trying to fix it, it's not a setup or calibration or window tint problem, it's a defective navigation unit problem. My dealer said they have seen several Corvettes with the same problem and the fix was to order a new navigation unit. Mine was diagnosed Saturday with the new unit being ordered on Monday, hopefully fixed sometime in the next week if all goes well.

Take it to the dealer.
