Ok so I have the Goodyear supercar tires on my '08 Z51 now. The car has 5300mi on it, and the rear tires are showing some wear. I can probably squeeze another 2k miles tops out of them. I am not crazy about the treadlife of the GY's (more so their sticking capability, they seem reluctant to glue to the ground). And I feel it on a high RPM shift to 2nd gear when the tail slightly wags a bit slithering looking for traction. That is probably why the tires are going bald so fast, the temptation with this car is always there!
The Michelin PS2 zp's are expensive from tire rack dot com, but I seen they sell the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval RFT's for alot less than the PS2's
Does any one have any experience with the firestones? I was contemplating the PS2's but if the firehawks are just as effective then why not try to save some $$$. The firehawks are about $800 cheaper than the PS2's.
I have the wide ovals on my Z06 and for the price i think they're hard to beat. Mine are not the run flats though. I bought a second set of wheels for my car that had the GY supercar tires that are pretty worn and the dont get near the traction as my wide ovals did when they got to that point of worn.
I was just reading on the firehawks on the tirerack site. They dont seem to be the same speed rating as the GY or michelins (i could be mistaken). I dont do sustained high speeds, if anything i'll hit around 130mph tops in short bursts every so often. I dont take turns at high speed either but I want maximum grip when gunning it in a straight line.

I am on my second set (one set of Goodyears, two sets of Firestones), and have had a few "bursts of speed" over the last 55K miles - no problems. Except one that took a bolt through the sidewall. I can attest that they do work just fine with no air in them at all!
Just had a full set of WO RFTs installed last week to replace my GY EMTs. My '06 is a daily driver. After 300 miles, the ride is better and quieter. Overall value is what led me to make the switch.
