Default Void Warranty?

Does anyone know if the GM warranty on the drive train is voided if we install an after-market shifter such as Hurst, MGW, or other?

Thanks.

GM will mostly like void the warranty if the mod installed cause the failure, otherwise you should be fine.

I was told no it does not by my service tech at my local dealer. I think it really depends on your dealer. I have a great one. My service tech drove my 08 C6 recently and just loved my MGW shifter!

Not for this. I doubt they would even know that this was done.

Except for something like a broken shift fork in the tranny, probably not.

If they know its there it may depend on the dealer and what the warranty work is for. I wouldn't tell them unless they ask.

with all of the above. Having the right dealership and a good relationship with them always goes a long way. Adding a shifter should not void your warranty unless the hard part failure is something specific to the shifter.

The only battle, and again depending upon the dealership, that you may run in to is if they find the shifter they may require you to return the car to stock prior to starting any diagnostics or repairs. Some dealerships are just looking for a battle from the start.
