OK, I know all the problems people have had with XM. At the end of the trial period on my new '09 I called to cancel this afternoon. While the wait time wasn't the shortest (I just put the phone on speaker and did other things), when I was connected the representative was great. She gave me such a wonderful virtual picture of Panama, where they're located, that I'm ready to visit . Oh, they extended my trial for another three months for free too. I'll just need to call again in October to cancel.
Congrats on the additional 3 free months. If you want to continue beyond that, you will have to demand the $77/year deal and don't give them a CC number. I have done the $77/year renewal three times in a row so far. That is all that it is worth to me. Last year was an unpleasant experience with me having to hang-up with the first rep. I mailed them a cancellation letter a month in advance this year with cancellation to occur on June 23rd. They have left the service on and now they are mailing me invoices at full monthly rates as if they ignored my letter. No surprise to most of us. I will let them keep it on and will see how long it takes them to turn it off. Then I will call them to give them a chance to keep me as a customer if they continue the $77 deal. If not, they can forget it as I have already given them a month written cancellation notice. It will be an interesting experiment.

I've had similar experience, had to fight to get discount for several years. Last time they wouldn't relent, had to call twice - with the usual very long wait times, confusing noise in background, and difficult to understand dialects - to cancel. Insisted that they send me an e-mail acknowledging cancellation, just to make sure it was in writing. I seldom listen to their poor selections anyway, so with overpriced product and the worse customer service I've experienced, the decision to cancel was easy. And they wonder why they are in financial trouble????
wow, you guys are a tough crowd. i have had XM since 2003 and currently have it in 3 vehicles (factory radios). i have never had an issue with them. they always bill me and i pay $77/year.

Just called to cancel. Told them times were tough and had to cut something. They renewed the Vette and the Denali at $77 each. Will send a bill. How hard was that?
