Anyone use Blue Painter's Tape for temp Bra?
I saw a post some time back.
Just curious if anyone used the blue painter's masking tape
for a temporary bra?
Did it damage your paint in any way?
Sounded like something I'd use on my truck.
Thanks

Safety Car
A friend of mine uses a temporary bra when traveling and uses blue painters tape in spots where it might rub against the paint to protect it from the bra flapping in the wind at higher speeds.

Melting Slicks
Done it quite a few times...just do not leave on for an extended period (like days)... I do (for example) when I drove my very nice 1990 ZR-1 up to Carlisle last year for the Corvette event. Also I use on autoX days for "just in case" >>>
Best to use the wide (2") blue tape since is get most coverage per strip.

I have seen it used often around the wheelwells for autocrossing, and once for a cross-country run.
Not sure that many here will ever admit to using it off the track, that would qualify as TMI.

There is a red Plaster tape you could put over the blue
What I hear is---:
Good when hauling non-covered vehicle.
Very few Forum members admit to using it,
but it has been used by many of us.
One guy uses it for hair removal? (I know your kidding).
Only leave it on for a day or two.
I found a red plastic tape, at Home Depot not duct tape,
it feels like vinyl. It states on the packing,
removable for 30 days.
The red tape could be placed over the blue tape
giving double protection against chips. (The red tape is thicker).
Both come off very easily together.
Thanks for the input!

Burning Brakes
I remember this picture that was posted here a few years ago.
Someone from down south bought a car at Kerbeck and didn't want to mess up the front on the long drive home.

I wouldn't think you'd need it just for normal driving but yes, many people use blue painter's tape to protect the paint on the race track. IMO a better solution is to use 10 mil (black) PVC tape...it protects considerably better than painter's tape. I recommend "Christie's" brand PVC tape which can be bought at Lowe's.
I use PVC tape quite extensively on my car when I race it. They also make a 20 mil tape which I use sometimes as well. It can leave a very small amount of adhesive behind when you remove it but it easily comes off with a gentle, citrus based adhesive remover such as the "Oop's" brand. It helps when the tape is warm when you remove it. In the winter I use a hair dryer to warm the tape before I pull it off. I tape the more strategic areas of the car for the race track but I've seen some guys literally tape off half their car.

To the OP - as seen here - plenty of people have done it. It's not a bad idea for driving a new car home from the museum, or an out of state dealer.
I have the best of all: the clear bra.
