Default Door Handle Sensor Question

Does anyone know if the door handle sensors are the same on the driver's door and the passenger's door? I am referring to the pads that you squeeze on the outside of the door to open it. Yesterday afternoon the driver's side stopped working. I have read through a few old threads and need to read some more. The car is sitting in the garage (but that has not been a problem before), there was no cell phone in my pocket and it does not work with either fob nearby. The passenger door works fine. The driver's door also works from the inside. It stopped working shortly after I washed it. I am wondering if the sensor (the pad) itself has gone bad. To try to eliminate possible problems, I thought if I swapped the pads and then the passenger's door stopped working (and the driver's door started working) that would pinpoint the problem.

Does anyone know if they are the same?

The parts manual for the 2006 model shows them to be the same part number.

Thank you TCW and *FACADE*. I went out to the garage this evening and the driver's side door worked with either fob in the vicinity. Go figure. At least now I know that if it acts up again, I can swap the two switches to try to isolate the problem.

I can only use the fob to unlock the drivers side. No passive entry on the drivers side. Passive entry works fine on the passenger. I switched door pads and antennas with no luck. Is this the problem you are having? Curious to know what the problem is if you find a cure or take it to the dealer.

My driver's side door would not open from the outside no matter what I tried. Lock, unlock, FOB in "docking station" in glove box, you name it. It would not open from the outside. That is what made me think of switching the sensors. I was trying to figure out if it was the sensor. The passenger door opened fine all the time. It was really odd.
