Default '08 service question

My '08 Coupe will be 2 years old next month and will have 10,000 miles on it. It is a 6spd manual. Mods include Callaway Honker, ported TB, 1-3/4 Hooker headers, MGW shifter and tune.

I have changed the oil once at 5000 miles and that is it.

My plan is to take it to the dealer for this service.

What should I have them do/look at besides an oil change.

My list includes:
Change oil
Flush and replace clutch fluid
Clean and replace if needed the cabin air filter
Clean the Honker filter

They will try to sell you everything they can think of if you let them. You can save a lot of money off of your list if you take care of the cabin air filter, and clean your own Honker filter. The money you save here just may pay for your other wishes.......

With your oil change you should also recieve the following as part of their lubrication service:
Lubricate all suspension fittings (Z51)
Fill master cylinder res
Fill washer fluid res
Inspect wiper blades
Fill cooland res
Check coolant condition
Fill power steering res
Set tire pressures to spec
Lubricate door hinges
Inspect hoses/belts

Out of all those things the clutch fluid flush is by far something you can do and should continue to to at least twice a year unless you drive hard, then do it often.

If Mobil 1 came from the factory and was changed once and now has 10000 miles your right under normal driving conditions.

My Z has only had one change and now has 9500 miles and 25% left on the DIC,i'm very comfortable with how GM uses their DIC oil life metering when Mobil 1 is used.

Bought my C-5 ('00) new in Jan 2000. 24,000 miles. I change the oil & filter once a year. Needs nothing else. All you are doing is giving the dealer money for something that does not need to be done.

Not sure I agree with that statement(s). See this thread and post #1 by Airbus re Amsoil and his independent lab oil analysis. Especially note that this is AFTER an 8550 miles on an oil change, and about 10.5K miles on the car. And I'd say you can assume for the sake of argument that Mobil 1 is approximately as good as Amsoil.

Great info.

Seems our engines may need an extended break in which would indeed benefit from more frequent oil changes.

There are so many variables involved that there is not one right answer, those UOA's show either excessive wear OR an extended breaking in period.

Once metals are WNL it would then seem appropriate to use the DIC to compensate for variables within normal to hard driving IMO.

Extreme driving could be another story.

Thanx for sharing that.
