How can I eliminate a mouse urine smell coming from the air vents? The smell is less, but still there, when I use recirc mode.

Where is the fresh air inlet located into the system in a 1999 coupe? I can try to clean any debris out if I know where the air inlet is located and it can be reached from out side the passenger compartment.

Anyone else have this problem? How can it be prevented in future winter storage situations?

Have you examined and/or changed the fresh air filter?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I am impressed you have taken the time to smell the urine of a mouse to be able to make that comparison.

Do you leave your a/c on when you shut your car off? It could be water on the pump and you are getting the smell from the water sitting. You need to shut your a/c off before you stop and turn off your C6.

Not sure on vette - but I am having the same problem. All past cars with this issue the intake was the grill directly in front of the windshield, at the top of the hood. Get odorless antibacterial lysol or equivalent (or a nice smelling one that you like), turn fan to max (with AC on and with recirculate OFF) and spray in that area. If it works you will know. Likely water condensation in the condenser. Can't get in there to clean I don't think, but this should work.

NOTE: I am not sure of the vent intake location.

Be aware that mouse urine can be deadly. Search the internet for more info. This is not a joke!

Update: The disease is called Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrone (HPS) and is found in mouse urine. THE DISEASE IS FATAL IN HALF THE CASES!

Add some cat urine.

1. Mice will stay away.
2. The cat urine will completely overwhelm the mice urine--and probably you too.

You have mold causing the smell in your vents from condensation there is a TSB on this. They drill a hole in the vent pump in some chemical killing the mold and set the fan to stay on about 30 more second after you turn off the engine drying excess liquids.

A good practise in any car is to turn off your A/C while still keeping the fan going in the non-recirc mode about 2 minutes before you arrive at your destination. This allows the cooling coil to dry off before you turn the car off, thereby reducing mold build up....

Let's show a little restraint here folks....With the media and their passionate pursuit of health epidemics and bad news, I can just see it now....

Story #1 "The Federal Government's Health and Human Services Czar has Placed All Corvette Drivers in Quarintine, Due to Possible Exposure to Mouse Urine!....Film at 11.

Next Story: "MSNBC has just learned that Karl Malden, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson all rode in Corvettes while alive! How many more have been exposed???"

Final Story: "The Government just announced plans to impound and destroy all Corvettes to eliminate the pandemic spread of HPS cause by Mouse Urine found in the cars".
