I am thinking of getting a tune to add some HP to my 05 coupe. What is the cheapest tune you can get, and how much HP (roughly) does it add? Thanks in advance!
Well I am probably going to order my cold air intake and air filter today already. What about a diablosport predator tuner from ebay? It is like $369. Ever heard of it?
How long does it take if you do the mail in tune? And what all do you have to take off to send them, how hard is that part etc. Thanks for the help
The longest part of the wait would be the shipping time.
Taking out the PCM is pretty easy. It is located in the passenger side wheel well. Behind the panel you would need to remove to gain access to the inside of the side vent. I was able to remove my PCM without taking the tire off in about 10 minutes.
Panel #8 on the passenger side needs to be removed. http://www.gmpartshouseusa.com/partl...layCatalogid=0
Then if I remember correctly there is a rubber flap over the PCM you need to pull out of the way. Then disconnect the cables and remove fasteners that hold the PCM in. Its been a little while since I've done this but I think I remembered everything.
If your car is auto another module may also have to be mailed.
Give Chuck @ Corvettes off Westchester a call, he MAY be able to sell you an ECM with a tune already in it, depends on what he has in stock and the cost. You're going to have to add the cost of a core and shipping back and forth.
Be prepared to list the mods you have and he usually insists on a 160° t'stat also.

Has anyone ever heard of the diablosport predator that is being sold on ebay for $369? He has sold a lot of them and has 100% positive feedback. He says it will add 20-30 hp and get better gas mileage.
Is there any way to get a different tune without having to go without driving?
Yep... spend $138 for a new E38 PCM, you'll want one regardless.
Buy a spare PCM, and send that one off for a tune... this way you can still drive your car while you wait. The most important reason for buying another E38 PCM is that you've got your unaltered/original PCM to put back in if you ever need warranty repair work.

If you really want a Diablosport Predator, you can find them in the sales sections. They usually sell about $220-250. I would not pay $369 for one.
