My dad has a '06 convt and is wanting to replace his tires with ones with the least amount of road noise. He is 67 so he isnt concerned with performance as much as a smooth, quiet ride.
Many on here seem to like the Firestone Wide Oval. I recently had to replace just one OEM tire and I replaced it with the Firestone, but I can't testify to its longevity or quietness. However, I will also replace the other 3 with that same Firestone when I need 3 more new tires.
The Firestone Wide Oval run flats are definitely quieter than the Goodyear. They also cost considerably less. I've had the Firestone on mine for a couple thousand miles and I like them better than the Goodyear. They also have a better tread life rating.
Also have the Firestone RF's. Installed about 1200 miles ago and prefer these over the Goodyear's. Purchased the tires from the local Firestone dealer but had Discount Tire mount & balance. Firestone did't have the proper equipment to mount the tires. The folks at Discount Tire did a great job.
I too have the Firestones but I ended up buying them at Discount Tire. They actually beat the local Firestone place on the price. Very happy with them.
For the money, you can't beat the Falken FK452's.... They aren't run flat, but they ride much nicer than the facotry run flats did.. and they stick better too... I got all 4 for under $1k installed. I'm very happy with them so far. my car is an 08 z51 m6sp btw.
Go for the Firestone Firehawk wide oval's!! They are made just for the C6. Check out Tire Rack. I replaced all GY's and these are much better. Smoother and quieter!

What do you all suggest?
I have a set of Firestones and a set of Michelins. Both are great tires. The Firestones are quieter than the oem Goodyears, the Michelins are quieter than the Firestones.
I whated something longer lasting than GY (20K) and am a Michelin guy. The Michelins in my neck of the woods were $600 more than GY and FS. So I got the FS. Have them for 1 month. They are quieter but I do not feel as confident in turns as when the GY were new. This maybe because the car was new to me at the time and felt tighter to me then. But over all there ok and if I get 30k out of them it's worth it to me.
If he is going with the non runflat option, I recommend the Nitto Invos.
Great tires on the road and a very nice quiet ride
After that, keep your AAA membership paid up, or get a temporary tire plug kit and a small air pump that fits in the rear storage bins for less than $25.00.
Are there any replacement tires that have the same or better performance and same or better tread life as the stock ones but maybe cheaper? I'm a young guy and don't care about noise or ride quality, just a good combo of performance, tread life and price.
Just bought a set of the wide ovals for my c6. I only drove home on them(10 miles) and it was raining so I cant offer any assesment of them yet. Much cheaper than the goodyear supercars though.
