I didn't want to hi jack some one else's thread but I had a few more questions. I first ask how to engage "Comp mode" and got this reply.
Press the Traction Control button on the console next to the shifter/gear selector twice, or hold the button for ~5 seconds. This is what puts it into COMP mode. To put it in "S" on the A6, just move your gear selector to the "S" position.
1. Is your traction control still activated in "Comp Mode"
2. Is there an indicator some where that says you are in "Comp Mode"
3. How do you shut it off?
Competitive Driving Mode
The driver can select this optional handling mode by
pressing the ACTIVE HANDLING button on the console
two times within a five second time period. COMPETITIVE DRIVING MODE will be displayed in the
DIC.
3. Turn the car off, everything resets to normal, all systems on.
You can also turn off COMP MODE by pressing the active handling button on the console again.
2008 owner's manual, page 4-9
When you press the ACTIVE HANDLING button again,
or press the Acc. button, the Active Handling and
Traction Control Systems will be on. The TRACTION
SYSTEM AND ACTIVE HANDLING-ON message will be
displayed temporarily in the DIC and a chime will be
heard.
I've noticed on mine that when I hit the AH button twice I get the "Competition Driving Mode" message on my DIC but the traction indicator OFF light in the Instrument Cluster does not illuminate.
When I press and hold the AH button for ~5 seconds (maybe it's 10 from above?) that I get the same "Competition Driving Mode" message on the DIC but I also get the traction indicator OFF light in the instrument Cluster to illuminate.

I dunno I think the car feels more sluggish in comp mode.........anyone else feel that way?
Not to hi-jack this thread, so instead, take a look at these two threads regarding the A6 performance relative to amount of time to shift and also for the paddle delay.
Interesting that the manual only mentions the handling change resulting from "competition" mode, and says nothing about it affecting quickness of automatic transmission shifts. Anyone find any "official" documentation of this?

Check out this thread. It contains this information. Just ignore video #3 data as I hit the rev limiter during the test.
Thanks. I did read that thread (but your link above doesn't work). My point is that Chevy doesn't appear to document anywhere the fact that entering "comp" mode results in crisper shifts.

Thanks! Fixed the link.
I haven't found a reference in the manual either. Glad I could get a close number running tests.
It looks like "competition mode" turns traction control off but keeps active handling and anti-lock brakes turned on. Still, no "official" mention of any effect on transmission shifts.
