I go by the level the dip stick shows after I do an oil change. My car takes 10.5 quarts and I put in 10.5 quarts of oil when I change the oil. That is 100%, no matter what the dip stick shows.

To clarify, you said that you go by the dipstick, but then you said that you put in 10.5 quarts, no matter what the dipstick shows...so....this seems to be contradictory....does it matter what the dipstick says??

I think he means when he puts 10.5 quarts in it won't take any more because it starts running out the dipstick tube.
