Default Starting Problem

My 07 c6 Automatic is having a problem starting and shifting. THe Brake pedeal will not depress enough to allow the car to start and shift. I have had it to the dealer four times and they have not been able to fix. THey have called GM and they are not aware of any problems and have sent some adjustments but they have not worked. Has anybody experienced the same problem and know of a fix. Does not do it all the time and if I fiddle with the start button and brake pedal it will start. VERY ANNOYING. I don't think its the switch as the brake pedal will not depress.

This is the first that I have heard of something like this. You'd certainly think that the switch under the pedal that tells the car the brake is being depressed and gives the OK to start would be adjustable for this.

I'd be surprised if it was a computer error at all --- sure sounds like a simple fix to move that starter switch under the pedal closer to the driver. Wouldn't this be the same one that turns on the brake lights???

I'd start by finding another dealer if possible. This is something they should be able to fix.

Maybe you can fix it yourself. Sounds like a simple adjustment. My guess is the dealer isn't trying.

Maybe have them run some engine diagnostics? I had sort of a similar issue where the brake pedal suddenly got very stiff and the engine would turn over but not fire. The dealership ran some tests and found it was caused by a bad coolant sensor - after they replaced the sensor the issue went away. Not sure if it is related to your problem or not but thought I would mention it so you have an extra data point.
