Default Jacking Question

This may sound stupid but how many jacking pucks do you need to safely lift the car? Thanks in advance.

If you only want to lift 1 tire off the ground at a time, 1 puck will do it.

If you want to lift the whole car off the ground, you'll need 4.

It looks like the safe bet would be to buy four. Any recommendations where to purchase. Thanks

I bought 4 hockey pucks from Sports Authority for about 2 bucks or so. They work great.

As was previously stated...hockey pucks work great...for an added extra, drill a small hole in the middle of each one and put a threaded eye bolt in (with super glue), then screw the eye bolt into the puck. That way, the puck will not fall out of the car.

If you want the "Cadillac" of jacking pucks, get them from Elite Engineering:

Hockey pucks from Second Hand Sports. Buy eight; four to carry in the car and four to use at home.

These are what I have and they are top quality but if you want to save some money, the hockey pucks are a good solution that should work just fine.

Hockey pucks are a good solution, no doubt about it.

Me, I prefer to waste money on techy looking jacking pucks but I did make my own "race ramps" out of 2x10's...

The eyebolt is especially helpful for making sure the puck is lined-up and properly seated. A mis-aligned puck might allow damage.

And be sure to remove the puck when you're done. The eyebolt does not securely attach the puck to the rocker panel.

Oh, and get an extra set of pucks (8 total). That's because you might (just possibly) need 2 pucks per jacking point. Depends on your jack or jack stands. Anyway, cheap insurance for just a couple of bucks.

DIY for a double-decker:

Or you might need a thinner puck for a low profile jack:
