Default How long before you started modding?

I've had my C6 for a little more than a month, purchased it brand new with 8 miles on it. I put a Vararam, Kooks 1 7/8 LTs, Corsa catback and a tune a week ago. This past weekend, I installed the MGW shifter (My god, if you don't have one, GO GET IT). I'm hungry for more, I want to put a cam in right now right now, cause this just isn't enough power for me.

When I talk about mods on my car and what I want to do RIGHT NOW, my friends give me crap. Their argument is it's a new car, drive it and enjoy it. I still have a warranty, what if something breaks, etc. I can see where they are coming from, but from my past vehicles, I would enjoy it MORE with MORE power LOL. And I am not worried about warranty, since I have confidence in a cam bolt-on setup's reliability. The only warranty I worry about is interior warranty, anything that has to do with a powertrain I would rather upgrade if it breaks.

I used to drive a 800whp Cobra that I went through every single stage with that car. It made 350 stock to 450 with bolt ons, then 530 on nitrous, to 630 on a old KB, then 710 on a stroker/H/C, then finally 800. I know I cannot compare to it but I was happy with the car around the 600whp range. When I hit that thing when it was making 600+, it would haul and put a big smile on my face. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the C6. You cannot compare it to the Mustang because it beats it in every category. Ergonomics, handling, the general road feel is much improved in the Corvette. But when I hit that gas I feel... disappointed knowing that it has so much more potential at such little cost.

So my question is, how long before you guys started modding your car after initial purchase, and what mods did you do? I'm curious to hear from the guys that bought new cars, or purchased a stock used car and from mild to wild mods. Let's hear it.

if you wait till its out of warranty to mod the engine and it breaks or you mod it now and it breaks i believe the "net" cost to you would be the same. So why wait, do what you like and drive the crap out of it. Too many guys dont even come anywhere close to really driving these cars. If you dont break the tires loose and roll them on there edges from time to time a guy really isnt using the car. IMOP.
Too many guys want to wax their car all day,,,,,,me i want to drive it all day. To each their own.
Question?? What muscle should be the strongest for a vette owner?? their right foot muscle. Not there hands from waxing or there *** from leaning.

I had a catch can, pipedreams flaps, and a cags defeat connector when I picked up the car from the dealer. Part of the deal was I got to detail the car in one of the dealers bays. Mudflaps and a coat of Rejex went on before it left the dealership. Catch can installed and cags defeated before 10 miles on the car..
160stat, headers and tune and MGW shifter before 1800 miles, CAI, ported TB, and ported intake before 4000 miles..

see sig:

I'm always looking at new mods and considering new routes for the car.

I also had an 03 Cobra but only got to 501rwhp before I sold it. That thing was scary-fast

I plan on buying in the next year when I get out of the police academy and I already have a huge excel spreadsheet worked up with prices, cost/benefit analysis, websites to order, and quoted install prices lol.

About a month out from buying the car I will probably go ahead and order $3k in parts.

I had stuff for mine before the car was here. The garage looked like a warehouse. Good ol' UPS.

About 2 minutes. I started installing splash guards in the NCM parking lot. The rest started the next day when I got her home.

Well, I'll buck the trend. No mod fever here. I went 8 years before any mods to the only one that I have that has be modified. Other than that one car, every other one that I currently have or previously had has remained stock.

I literally drove my car directly from the dealer to my installer. Didn't even take it home yet. Installer was 112 kms away, car had a few KMs on it, so it had less than 150 KMs before I put my headers, Vararam and bullets (which were from my 06). The car came with the NPP, which I pulled the fuse out at the dealer, but after driving my 06 with headers and bullets, the NPP was totally UNsatisfying. Sold those a week later.

I'm trying to resist the constant temptation to mod. Every late model Vette I've owned, I've done some mild modding (intake, cat back, street tune, some cosmetic, etc.). In most cases I ended up removing or regretting them. It still amazes me when I drive a completely stock
C6 how much better it feels and sounds than any of my previously modded cars. Somehow I get the feeling the factory knows better than I do.
