It appears that when at a car show, someone rubbed up against my black ZO6, and left very very light scratches. They are so light that you can only see them in sunlight and not in the shade. I was wondering if Mequiars Swirl X would help out with something like that? I was planning on trying it in that section and then waxing over it with Mequiars NXT 2.0 to make sure that there is a layer of protection there afterward. First, is the product safe to use on the car and will it help out? Thanks!
"Meguiars Swirl X Swirl Remover is an ideal product for anyone whose vehicle is suffering from micro-fine swirls. It requires no special equipment – just apply by hand to rid your vehicle of unsightly swirls and restore a smooth, reflective finish. The nonabrasive formula will not contribute to new swirls as it smoothes away micro-fine spiderwebs. Meguiars Swirl X Swirl Remover is designed to give you quick, dependable results by hand or DA polisher".
I use NXT 2.0 In my opinion it is very easy to use and does a great job.

I would give it a try. I have used Scratch-X with mixed results. I all depends on how you define "micro-fine swirls". GM clearcoat is hard and difficult to polish out.

Do you leave it on and let it dry or apply and wipe off immediatley? I haven't bought a bottle yet so I don't have the directions.

Work it over the surface it on using a foam applicator. Don't press too hard. Let the polish do the work. Wipe off with microfiber towel. After one or two tries you'll see if it's being effective or not. If it doesn't appear to be working, DO NOT press and rub harder, you'll only create more scratches. Don't ask how I know. Good luck.
Swirl X is a very light formula which might not be enough to remove the swirls on the hard clearcoat of the Corvette. I've had excellent results using Meguiar's slightly stronger Scratch X 2.0, with just one pass using that stuff with my UDM polisher (similar to Porter Cable) it got rid of quite a lot of the minor swirls and light scratches in my black paint. And then when I topped it off with NXT 2.0, that also helped to hide some more of the remaining flaws too. Most people that see my car comment on the fact that they can't believe how good my black paint looks for a 12 year old car with 106,000 miles on it. Now you know my secret!
I have used this product with mixed results on black. I was not happy and it seemed I created more small scratches by using this product.....after using it I took it to a friend of mine that buffed the entire car and it looked like new money (At least for a week)!

Do I need to use a polisher, or can I just use the applicator pad?

You can use the applicator pad, but it'll take you a lot longer to do larger sections and you won't get as effective results as you would with a dual action polisher.
I have used Meguiars Swirl X on my red Jeep Commander but not my Vette yet. The Jeep had a number of swirl marks and deeper scratches. It was able to remove all of them and did a good enough job that I didn't have to follow up with a finishing polish. I am not as **** with the Jeep as I would be with the Vette though.
