I have an 08 MN6 with 1400 miles and have posted before about the surging I get at low, steady rpm's (under 2000 rpm, usually at 40 to 50 mph in 4th gear). In searching, others have the same problem, mostly 08's but some other years as well. No solutions yet from what I can tell.
I think it is the electronic accelerator. Have there been any recalls or TSB's on this? Anyone know? Comments? thanks, it's the only thing keeping this car from being 100%, totally outstanding.
I get a surging upon cold start up. If I start it up and go, slowly roll into it in 1st it surges and bucks a bit. It's really weird and goes away once the engine is warmed up. My '03 Z06 did the same thing, as well as my '06 GTO. I don't know what causes it, never was able to pinpoint it and the dealer told me they could not "replicate" the problem.
my 08 A6 idles at 500 rpm in gear with my stock throttle body and 550 with a ported one and never surges, about to put a CAI on it so that may change...
a nearly impossible diagnosis without driving the car or having experienced it myself but would look toward anything you may have messed underhood wise first Tune, t-stat, CAI etcc. Past that taking into consideration fly by wire i would say its a throttle sensor or throttle motor issue. off the top of my thots there, good luck paul
Hanny, that's the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks. You other guys are experiencing something different than I am. I'm cruising down the road at a steady 45 mph in 4th gear. The go pedal is just barely depressed at that speed in that gear. I get this light but noticeable back and forth or surging action. The road is smooth and my foot is steady on the gas. It's almost like the throttle sensor can't figure out if the go pedal is depressed or not. At higher speeds, when the pedal is depressed more, I don't get the surging.
Anyone have any other thoughts?
Thanks.
Your situation sounds like what I have on my 2009. Do a Search for my recent thread:

If yours is the same, it seems to be the way the car was made and probably nothing we can do to cure it. It's a non-issue to me know, since I know that it's typical.
