there is something odd going on with ls3 batteries. Battery tender or not no way it should be dead unless it sits for a long time. mine has done it a few times as well once when it sat for a week once when it sat for 2 weeks. No rhyme or reason really. Must have a some ECM control staying on like the car recognizing the fob and coming out of sleep mode???? noone knows the answer and the symptoms dont add up eiher

I know, shift into reverse and make sure you have the brake on before you shut it off!
I have a 08 bought new in April 08. Never had a problem with the battery. I let the car sit for over 3 weeks some times. I NEVER park it in reverse. I have to tell you, if it ever dies I'm going to go "postal" on somebody. As a owner of nothing but Hondas and Toyotas and never having any problems I would have a problem with this US GM design and backyard engineering. Are any of you still wondering why they are in the toilet???? Totally unreal for sure.

You may want to save some heartache and just trade the car in now for an Accord or something...

if my car is an 08 and barely a year old.. is the battery still covered under warranty? or do i have to buy a new one>?
Depends on what caused it to die. Have the dealer check to see if the car is drawing current when the car is completely in off mode. With all the electronics we have it could be anything from OnStar not going into sleep mode to an aftermarket device like Mild2Wild installed in a slow drain mode. BTW there is a no drain mode for Mild2Wild on their web site.
I have an 08 and have no battery issues, even after the car sits for 2 weeks it starts up. I do, occasionally hook up a CTEK battery charger to maintain a healthy battery state. Good luck

...Good strategy if you're looking for an excuse to go "postal."
...Bad strategy if you're looking for reliable long-life battery service.
At least, follow the owner's manual: If the vehicle is driven infrequently, remove the black, negative (-) cable from the battery. This helps keep the battery from running down. Yes, you'll have to re-initialize the windows. Just be sure you can unlock the hatch with your key (try it), and that you know where to find the manual door release.
A battery tender is a better approach IMO. My C6 spent most of the winter on a CTEK 3300, no problems. And I always connect it whenever I expect my car to sit unused for more than a few days. Why not? It keeps the battery fully charged, and goes thru a maintenance cycle for best battery life.
And BTW, parking in Reverse was only necessary (by design) on the 2005 manual-tranny C6.

My 08 battery died in 3 weeks after getting the car.. I think it was my fault as I left something on that did not automatically shut-off..
The dealer replaced it and I have had no issues in almost 2 years..

Wow you have some serious issues, go postal over a battery, backyard GM engineering, sad my man just plain old sad.

.... I could not agree more! Been saying that exact thing for the past 3 years. Why can some vettes sit for weeks without a problem while others a week or even less? Makes no sense! I've had my 06 MN6 parked for over 3 weeks without a tender and it's starts fine. Why? My buddy has an 08 which goes stone dead in 10 days? It drives him crazy. Been to the dealer several times and they've changed the battery twice in less than 12,000 miles. They keep claiming there is nothing wrong but why the dead battery? He's extremely frustrated with the problem!
I believe there is some piece of electronics that does not shut down properly in all vettes. I don't even believe it does it all the time either. With so much electronics it's a real problem and one GM should fix IMO....
You would think that this C6 dead battery syndrome would be something that Vette engineers would be able to diagnose and fix after all these years. I've not heard of any other recent factory cars with this many electrical issues. It aint rocket science!
Maybe they should come from the factory with an effective electronics shut off system AND a battery-tender system built in.
Same thing here. If I go out of town for a week I can plan on a dead battery. However after the first trip I started leaving the negative terminal off. Shouldn't have to go though this trouble but if I don't want a dead battery that's my solution. I know get a battery tender, take it to the dealer, that's all find but a battery tender is something you still have to do which you shouldn't and the dealer, forget that unless something serious goes wrong. I've been though the dent and scratch scenario with dealers.
