I stopped for gas a little while ago and when I was filling I noticed the hatch was ajar, so I closed it. A few seconds later it pops open again. So I close it and it happens again, a then 1 more time.
So I left it open until I finished filling, closed up the filler door, closed it 1 more time got in, closed the door and started the car. It stayed close until I got to Home Depot then when I got out of the car it popped open again. I closed it and walked briskly away from the car and when I came out it was still closed and did not pop open again.
Yah, I had a similar experience. Putting on my pants at home with the FOB in the pocket. All of a sudden the horn in my vette starts beeping in the garage. My dogs start barking, my wife says "wtf" and I finally figure out I pressed the alarm button putting on my pants. Guess I won't leave the FOB in my pants again.
Something in your pocket was pressing against the hatch open button on the fob. It has happened to me a couple of times.
That's probably what it is.
The other, less likely possibility is that the hatch button is stuck. If that's the case, the hatch will pop whenever you walk within close range of the car.
I carry a lot of stuff in my pocket, something would set off the panic alarm on our 2006 about once a week.
Now we have a 2009 with the "improved" fob that weighs twice as much and sets of the alarm about once a day.
I reduced the weight by removing the key and hiding it outside the car (no, I won't tell you where!) but the danged alarm problem still remains.
I am not a happy camper, looking for a way to make the buttons harder to press without totally disabling them.
