i was wondering which gear to use with a member of the queen and her court waving atop my vert.
just keep the car in "D"
put the car in "S"and keep it in first
other
her safest leg positioning(no crude comments) during the parade?
straddle the center armrest/storage,both feet on it,slight shift to the right with both feet on passenger seat
what is the best cloth for her posterior to prevent possible paint issue?
microfiber,towel,pillow case,felt,etc
if she insists on spiked heals and sequence attire ,she can hitch a ride on the nearest mustang
this may sound "slightly" excessive, but I'd put down some relatively thin, static cling, stuff like saran wrap where she'll be sitting (very lightly dampen it on the bottom so it won't slide and will cling). on top of that around the edges, I'd use some either double sided tape or velcro. then, affix a towel to it, preferably one that kind of blends in with the color of your car. when finished, pull up the saran wrap, peel off the tape or velcro and towel. done.
I might also ask her to have shoes off in the car, and use those "totes" type of socks that have little rubber strips on the bottom. that way, whatever she's touching it's not going to slip and it will be brand new and clean.
Did the CMA parade this year in Nashville with Lynn Anderson as my passenger. She sat on the rear deck on a small blanket to protect the paint. Placed a blanket in the passenger seat as your passenger will likely step in the seat on their way to rear deck. She removed her shoes of course. Also placed a towel on the console lid to protect it. Your passenger will find the console lid the most comfortable place to put their feet. I think you'll find that your passenger will be ok with removing their shoes and sitting on a blanket. I just kept mine in drive with an eye on the coolant temp. No problems or damage.
I was lucky with my parade as the street was a slight downhill...so I just had to give it a little gas every once in a while...most of the time it was in neutral. I put a bath towel on the tonneau cover and another on the console. The mayor ended up with his right foot on the floor behind the seat and his left on the towel on the console. It was a fun experience!
I'm finally taking the parade plunge. My wife will be driving her C5 in the local HS parade and I'll be in my C6. I've seen the photos of three people sitting on the deck above the top. And still, I'm nervous about possible weight issues.

And you have plenty of reason to be nervous. Statistically speaking, you're more likely to get a whale than a cheetah . And the former could easily f**k up your car, with no warranty to cover it. I wouldn't accept if I don't know what the 'queen' looks like. Politely ask promoter that GM told you no more than 125 lbs, or whatever the experts think is safe for your car. Oh, and also tell them GM said she had to be on a skirt . Good luck man.
I did a parade last year with a homecoming queen candidate. I put down saran wrap and then a small soft blanket that I put part of it in the trunk and closed the lid to hold it in place. The rest of it overlapped down into my seats.
I placed a towel on my passenger seat and center console. The queen candidate wore flip flops underneath her long dress. I allowed her to step on the passenger seat and place her feet on the console during the parade.
I have a manual 6 speed so I used 1st gear
This worked great and no damage. I am not sure what got more attention, the queen candidate or my Grand Sport.....
