Default question

OK I love my vette as we all do; it took me many years of hard work to be able to afford the second love of my life. I don’t like how people act in traffic but its part of owning a corvette so I deal with it.

Here’s my question....

Let’s say someone hits me for whatever reason and does big damage to my car, heaven forbid. In Maine you must disclose damage about $1500 when selling your car. Who would buy a corvette that has been hit, if you can afford a corvette why would you buy a damaged one?

Can I force the other party to buy my car because it has been permanently damaged?

It's called devaluation costs.

I believe you can recover damages for the amount of value a car loses when it is hit.

You'd have to talk to an actual lawyer or an insurance rep without a vested interest but I am pretty sure you can recover those monies.

You need to make it part of the insurance settlement, your car will be devalued once hit and they should compensate for that.

There's not much you can do about how the law is set up.

If you worry about your car, you will never enjoy what you have worked for all these years. Keep good insurance, drive and enjoy!

I understand your comments ben I do enjoy the car tremendously the wife and I have had so many days of joy showing, driving, and cleaning our vette. I just see so many people texting or talking on their phones now a days some idiot could hit me. I've had my car 15 months now and I still stare at it before getting in.

cheers,

Scott
