Good Luck! I've had the windshield replaced on my 2007 vert 3 times. Never have been able to get the glass company to install OEM. Be certain you note to the insurance company the car has heads up display should it be so equipped.

Thanks. I have told the company putting in the new windshield I want them to use OE. They told me they get the windshields from the company the makes the OE windshields. I am just looking for a way to tell if it is OE or not.

If they are telling you they get the glass from the company that makes the OE glass, it tells me they are getting an aftermarket windshield. The OE glass will have the same GM stamp in the corner that your original glass has.
If you really want to get an OE glass, I am pretty sure it can be ordered through any GM dealer... Be prepared for the cost though, as I am sure it will be a lot higher than an aftermarket glass. Whether you go with the OE or an aftermarket glass, just be sure the installer is willing to stand behind the work. Some things that come to mind are leaks after the install, inside rear view mirror loose or falling off, Onstar box not sitting flush to glass or not put back on, exterior moldings not sitting flush or wrinkled, and scratches to paint/trim right next to the window glass....

Thanks "heisnuts" I will look out for all those things when I get the car back.
OEM will have the GM logo on the lower corner of the passenger side. I had mine replaced and insisted on OEM. The glass shop got the OEM (HUD and OnStar equiped) and my insurance company paid for it under my comprehensive coverage.
Why would it matter which windshield because of the heads up display? The kind of windshield has nothing to do with the display!
Absolutely incorrect. The HUD windshield is, in fact, different than a non-HUD windshield. I believe Paul (Talon90) has posted the differences in previous threads.
Here is a quote from Talon90 explaining the difference:
"Cars equipped with a HUD have a different windshield. The windshield has a layer of reflective film laminated between the two layers of safety glass. Additionally, the HUD windshield is .3mm thicker at the base and tapered toward the top. This taper is designed to set the focal point of the HUD precisely in the area where the projector projects the HUD image on the glass."

This is very interesting and on another car that I bought from my friend, she was told they were giving her the same mfr. as OE. Note the difference, the same mfr.
Just like there are companies that manufacture all kinds of things for other companies, there are all kinds of grades of glass. Just because it's made by the same factory or mfr. does not mean it's the same specification of quality. But as said above, be ready to pay for it.

The guy at the winshield place did tell me the HUD display needs a different type windshield. I would like to replace am OE part with an OE part. That is just me. Money does not enter in to it.

Well then, I learned something today. I had a windshield replaced on my C5, and the HUD never came up as an issue. Maybe the installer knew to get the right replacement glass and never mentioned it.
