Last night I noticed that the driver/left side headlamp on my car was not as bright as the right side. When I got home I looked at it from the outside and it was very dim with a pink hue.
I will take it to the dealer for a warranty repair next week. But, I am curious to know if anyone here has had this happen or knows what is failing. Thanks.
That's a new one. Please let us know what you find out. Certainly sounds like the lamp is dying or the ballast is having issues. I drive mine every night from work to home. Last week, the lamps both looked dim too me as soon as I got onto the freeway, but there was dew on the outside. It didn't come off as fast as it normally does and had me worried there for a bit that something else is happening. After that one night, its been fine.
That's a new one. Please let us know what you find out.
Dealer dignosis: Circuit-tested headlamp circuit. Found no loss of voltage prior to ballast for HID-Lamps. Fault internal to HID-System. Ordered parts.
Dealer ordered both bulb and ballast.
Dealer repair: Ballast and bulb need to be replaced. Ballast has damaged bulb causing light to fade. Replaced LF low beam HID bulb and ballast for low beam left HID bulb. Retested and all lights operate as designed.
It seems very peculiar to me that both bulb and ballast needed to be replaced. I don't really care because it was covered under warranty. But, unless a bad ballast will ruin the bulb (?), it would seem that one or the other would solve the problem. Anyway, it is fixed. Thanks for your interest.
