I emailed Gene about these to see if they are available, but does anybody know if you can get these? They are the two "clip in" corner pieces on the front of the removable hard top (body colored) that slide into the hooks in the back when storing the top in the rear hatch. This is for an '08 C6. I removed mine while figuring out how to quiet down the top while being stored back there and one of the little "retainers" broke off of one of them.
I found them on Part Taxi's site. My email to Gene was bounced back again. Don't know what the issue is with his email, but it's not the first time it's happened to me. -HERE'S- the link to them. They are called right & left front brackets.
Those little suckers are kind of a PITA. My left one keeps popping out when I take the roof out of the storage space in back. So what did you come up with as a solution to the noisy roof? I fixed mine by putting on a louder exhaust.
So what did you come up with as a solution to the noisy roof?
A little lube on the flat top area of the receiver (where the front of the roof clips in) at the point where the roof contacts it and also in the holes where the rear of the roof clips in will quiet that noise right down. I use Mercedes Benz sliding roof lube but it's just a very viscous, thick and clear silicone lubricant. Should find something equivalent at auto zone.
So what did you come up with as a solution to the noisy roof?
I did a few things, as my noise was a result of a few different things moving around. First off, I removed the metal clips from the plastic receiver housings on both sides. I replaced them with some nice thick 3M VHB double sided foam. That in itself took care of around 80% of the noise. Now when those housings move around they are mouse quiet. Next I put some Velcro (soft side) on the flat top mating surface of the receiver housings. This quieted down the contact from the top to the receiver housing. Then I discovered that those little plastic "front brackets" where moving around a hair causing some noise issues and rubbing against the top itself. So I removed those (that's how I broke one) and put some of that VHB foam in between the mating surfaces of those. Everything is super quiet now
