WOW--That's a lot of hiatus in the production. Sorrowful for those waiting, but I'm glad I got mine already. The Corvette will live on so long as there are motorheads in America. Keep the faith and save the wave!
Don't want to make a prediction..... but I don't see how they can continue at such a low production rate. GM was ready to pull the plug on the Corvette in 1992....and sales were better then now.

GM has already announced that the 2013 Corvette C7 will come out in the spring of 2012. They want to take advantage of it being the 60th anniversary year.
I think they will be more productive if they go back to the way things used to be: you want a vette? You order it and wait 6-8 weeks to get it, rather than going to the lot and getting shoe-horned into one already sitting on a lot.
streamline the inventory, eliminate the surplus and get back to the quality, not quantity mentality!

What... you had to wait months to get a new Corvette because the factory could not produce enough to meet the demand. Now....there is no demand. That's why the factory has cut production...to get rid of inventory because there was no demand for the units produced.
Even with the drastic cut in production, no demand is being generated. My local dealer has two 09 ZR1's on his showroom floor....at $7,000 off MSRP......and they're still there. You want to see a new Grand Sport up live and close..... drop by his showroom and take a gander.
GM is doing everthing possible to streamline inventories and eliminate the surplus......and it isn't working.
I agree with you, C6Tim, I have waited since July and still not positive that they will produce mine the week of 10/27. They moved my TPW from 9/20 to 10/27. So I'm not too happy right now.
Thanks for the update .... gotta wonder if GM is thinking about maybe and i hate to even think it, stop producing the Corvette
Only GM knows how much they are losing per month with the current situation, and only GM knows how long they are willing to keep losing money in the hope that they'll recoup it when sales finally turn up.

This is the change you asked for. We will have to wait a few more years for hope.

Wow, sorry to hear that... My order is at status code 3400 with a TPW of 10/19. The next status code is 3800 which means "order produced", so I'm hoping there will be no further delays.
What are the specs of your car? I assume your delay must have something to do with constraints or someone screwed up big time.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
