With all the talk on this forum about dead batteries or locking the fob in the car, I have started keeping the drivers window down if I'm not going to us the car for a couple of weeks. (in the garage of course)
Do you keep your drivers window up or down?
Since you haven't filled out your profile, don't know what year you have. If later than the '05 the dead battery thing isn't as much an issue. I have an '06. Treat it just like my DD and no problem. I also carry the emergency key in my wallet vs. with the FOB. Learned a trick on this forum. Bust off the thick plastic, and the key fits perfectly in a wallet.
Why not just leave the windows closed and NOT LOCK THE CAR......
Isn't that what we would do with any other car....why not this one...?
Even if you leave it unlocked the door will not open without power, the only way to open the doors is to use your key to pop the hatch then pull the release handle or climb in.....locked or unlocked no power means no open
With coupes why do folks have such a hard time using the hatch key? I've checked mine many times and it opens very easy. I do keep it lubed and clean but it seems that's the best way to get inside if the battery dies?

GM has already designed a solution to this problem. Use the hatch key and the manual door release(s).
Check your manual hatch release to be sure it operates properly. There have been reported cases where it is not hooked up properly at the factory.
Leaving a window down is just an invitation for insects or vermin to get into your car. No matter how clean your garage is, these pests exist everywhere and can appear at any time.

Even if your garage is insect or vermin free, after a couple of weeks with the window down, you will probably have a layer of dust on the interior.
Just plan on using your key to open the hatch for access to the door cable that is located there if you have a dead battery.

Your right about the key not hooked up right on some cars. Still with a window down you are not forcing the glass. (Widow index)
Been leaving windows down in garage for over 20 years and no problems. Horror of horrors in all my Verts I also left the top down many times, no problems.
I do long term storage because of weather. Mid Nov to Mid April car is in garage, windows down, battery tender on and good car cover on vehicle. My large garage is under house and quite weather/rodent & insect tight. It is unheated, but temp never goes under 37 even if it’s -20s or lower outside!
If the battery dies you obviously can unlock the door through the hatch/trunk with the key. Unfortunately, without power, the window indexing will not work so, on the coupe, you'll really have to yank on the door to pull the window out of the rubber seals. After you get the door open you won't be able to close it because the glass won't fit back under the window seals. When power is restored, you can retract the windows and re-index them.
On the vert this isn't an issue since the glass sits on the seals and the door opens and closes freely with no power when the manual release is used.
If your coupe is not on a charger when idle for an extended period of time, it's not a bad idea to leave the driver's window open an inch or so just to clear the seals.

Actually, if the window is down and the power off all one has to do is lean in and pull the mechanical release near the floor.... watch your belt buckle on the door...
If I were concerned about the battery going dead, instead of leaving a window open I would just pop the hood.
If the battery were dead you could then just lift up the hood to access your battery to charge it.
Or, if you have a Z06, ZR1 or new GS coupe with battery in back you could just pop the hatch and leave it cracked open to get to the battery if needed.
However.....none of the above is a substitute for regularly checking your key in the lock above the license plate to make sure it's working properly to open your hatch or trunk.
