Help. Clunk sound from transmission when letting off gas in gear 1-3
I hear a clunk noise from the transmission area when I let off the gas in first gear. For example, I'm driving in 1st gear while in a parking lot and the RPM is at 2k, then I let go of the gas and and RPM drops to below 1.5k and I hear a clunk noise. This also happens in 2nd 3rd gear sometimes. I also hear the clunk when i'm down shifting and let out the clutch for the syncro to rev up. Is this normal? It gets annoying when you keep hearing a clunk noise when letting off the gas.
Anyone have a clue if this is suppose to be normal?

That's weird, I was just thinking about this today, as it's happened to me lately. Just a faint clunk when letting off the gas and coasting to a slow. I will ask my vette tech when I get my oil change tomorrow.

I remember the car didn't make this clunk when I first got it. I was happy that it was so smooth when coasting in the parking lot compared to my mustang. The mustang had a lot of clunk noises/bucking when coasting.

Clunk to some is different than others. There is the axle nut check. The rear end fluid change, and the end link replacement. These have been described as the clunks by some.

It depends if there was forward load on the driveline when the clutch is released after downshifting. If there was a forward load, it will sometimes clunk. It is rather irritating but knowing that there's nothing wrong makes it less of a bother I guess.

I think this is the case with mine, there is some forward load when I release the clutch, I'll have to keep a closer eye on it though.

Clunk from rear when letting off the gas!
Yeah, thats the thing I was trying to describe. Awesome, let me know what your tech says. Thanks.

I hear a faint clunk in gear 1 2 3 or tapping on the gas and letting off. at 10 mph or so, I have a 2009 coup, I live near Knoxville Tn. anyone no of any shops that just work on vets within 500 miles or so. I would be so pleased if someone would have any info, fell free to call me 606 549 8867
Doesn't appear you'd have to go anywhere near 500 miles to find a reputable shop. Got many hits, this one looks interesting: https://www.mechanicadvisor.com/tn/k...e-repair-shops
If none of the shops listed float your boat drop the East TN Corvette Club an email @ http://www.etcorvette.com/ & ask who their members use/recommend.
