My '08 MN6 coupe displayed something slightly odd yesterday. After driving about 20 minutes the small lock light in the left side of the instrument cluster suddenly came on and stayed. I pulled over the car and read the manual and learned the light relates to the vehicle security system (theft protection, I suppose?) and have noticed it routinely light up when I start the car but it goes out almost immediately. The manual says if it stays lit like it did yesterday, take the car in for service. After stopping at the market (had been driving about 1.5 hours) and then restarting the car...no more light. Hasn't come back either.
So, is this a hint being given of some kind of problem that needs fixing, or is there some other function for the light that is not immediately apparent from reading the manual?
On a possible related note, I've also noticed that the horn will honk sometimes when I walk away from the car...not all the time, just every now and then. Could the light issue be related to the horn?
Maybe it could be the battery is getting low in the fob and the car isn't seeing the fob in the car.
The horn can be set to do differnt things like alerting you if you left the fob in the car, sounding 3 times or when you get out of the car sounding once to let you know the car is locked, check the owners manul for personalization and see howyour car is set.

Once the car is started, it doesn't care if the fob is in the car or not, so I don't think it would cause a warning light on the dash while driving.
I agree with what has already been posted -- some minor electrical glitch that happens only once isn't worth worrying too much about.
