LS3 oil filter????
Selling the 1999. Have several UPF44 oil filters left over. Will they work on the LS3 engine (2008) ???
If not what filter works on the LS3 ???

Recommended filter is AC Delco PF48.. I'm not sure if the 44's will work but I doubt it. Sell them in the parts forum.

No, Delco PF46 is used in the '05 & '06 (LS2).
Starting in '07, the PF48 is specified for the LS2, then continuing for the LS3 ('08 and newer).
Edited: corrected per "Fcars4Ever."

I'm pretty sure the 05&06 used the PF46 NOT the PF44. The 08s do use the PF48 though.

Opps, I believe you're right. I corrected my post. Glad you caught that.
I have an '07 and it does take the PF48.

They did, but the PF44 and PF46 are identical so any car that calls for the PF46 can still use the UPF44 and PF44 filters.

The mounting thread pitch for the current PF48 and UPF48R filters was made intentionally different by GM from the previous PF44 & 46 & UPF44 filters. You can not use the PF44 & 46 & UPF44 filters on an LS3 engine. The reason the thread was changed to prevent interchangeability is because the engine relief valve was deleted from the engine block and moved to the oil filter starting with all LS7 engines and also the MY2007 LS2 engines and all LS3.

The PF46 is just an PF44 with upgraded filtering media.
