Default PAL operation

OK the installation went well. The PAL worked right away. But HOW does it work? Specifically, when I select PLAYLISTS, it lists the first 3 or four playlists, but I can't figure out how to get the next screen of playlists up. Whatever I press seems to get me back to the "Player" screen. I've tried the Catalog buttons (display then says scroll mode, but I can't seem to get it to scroll), I've tried Back, that also takes you to the "Player" screen. I can get to the alphabetical lists and any number of other places--but I can't seem to get to the screen listing my other playlists--except maybe once by accident. I've read the manual about 15X. I think I'm doing what it says to do, but I'm not getting the desired result. Also, does shuffle work on a single playlist--or does it only shuffle the full library or albums?

After you select Playlist and the 3 or 4 you describe come up, push Scan and Scan again and you will scroll through all the Playlists, 3 or 4 at a time.

Shuffle works on a single playlist, album or the entire list depending on what you've selected to play.

I believe this is all in the GM Manual that came with PAL.

Steve,

Press the CAT> button to put you in Scroll Mode, then push it again to start scrolling.

Same with Shuffle. Push it to get into the Shuffle Mode, then push again to choose what you are shuffling. When you are actually shuffling, a dot will appear to the left of "Playing" in the Play mode.

If I can get to the point where I can select a playlist as described in post #2, then I am sure the shuffle function will work. The unit does shuffle for me, but so far only my entire music list. I'm hoping that the double push of scan will get me to the playlists. But I have tried pushing CAT twice as explained in the manual. On my unit, the second push of scroll does not seem to start the scrolling. And the second push of the shuffle button seems to cancel shuffle. I am going to sit in the car in the driveway this weekend until I get it all to work....

I find that for playlists using the ABC button is quicker.
